Arabic for Comparative Semitics
Course Description - A study in the field of comparative Semitics as a tool for scientific analysis of Semitic texts. Coursework uses the students’ knowledge of Hebrew as a base for examining the grammar of Classical Arabic. Some knowledge of Hebrew is required.
Course objectives - We will go into both the theoretical aspects of Comparative Semitic linguistics, as well as reading actual texts from Classical Arabic with reference to Middle Arabic and modern Arabic dialects.
